I have been running Windows 10 for a while and see a lot of promise in Microsoft Edge, especially with Cortana integration, but there is no way I can use it as my main browser currently. It runs great (usually) and has some nice built-in features, but the current lack of extension support means I can't use it. I need an adblock program like uBlock Origin in order to browse the web these days. I know extension support is coming eventually, but I really feel like it was a mistake not having it ready by the Windows 10 RTM build. A lot of people are probably gonna take one look at it, see it doesn't have extension support, and then never look at it again; even when extension support is added in. Once extension support is added in, Microsoft Edge may very well become my main browser, but not until then.

Its a shame but the final build hasn't released yet. I have high hopes they will introduce it before RTM or include it in an update IMMEDIATELY after release. Otherwise I'm afraid you're right. Most people will once again label it as "that Microsoft browser" and it will be forgotten on the desktop only mentioned begrudgingly as people use it to download Chrome or Firefox...

EDIT: Ps, thank you for linking to the homepage. Smart addition! :)

Well, according to Microsoft themselves, they won't have extension support by the release of RTM (which is very, very close at this point). I'm sure Microsoft Edge will pick up a large market share simply because it's the default browser, but for people in the know, yeah, it will likely (for a while at least) remain simply a tool for downloading other browsers that actually have extension support.

Thanks for the link. That's interesting/sad. I'll continue to use Edge as my default unless unusably bad sites need to be accessed at which point I'll pull up Chrome. Hopefully one day it can be my 'everything' browser but I'm afraid that day seems to be pretty far off for the time being.
