Claims against the NYPD cost the city $212 million in 2014 alone
New York Police Officer Daniel Pantaleo, whose chokehold killed Eric Garner on Staten Island in July, has been sued by residents claiming various abuses in at least three separate cases. In one of those cases, Pantaleo is accused of falsely arresting and humiliating two men, who say Pantaleo searched them illegally, forced them to pull their pants and underwear down in public, squat and cough.

This article states 9500 complaints against police department. All other sources claim less than 6000. This article included all claims against the city, thus the inflated figure, oversight on author's part? None of these like stories/articles even hint at the number of police citizen interactions in any given year, which would then give basis to meaningful stats. Are police expected, unlike the rest of society to make no mistakes, if not what is an acceptable percentage?
