Yeah the media dropped the ball pretty hard on this one. But with news agencies essentially just copy-pasting each others stories these days without any fact checking. It's a problem that's not going to go away any time soon.
I couldn't agree more. I'm fine if the entertainment section of news wants to wildly speculate on "maybes". But I'd prefer for science sections to slow down and take stock before making wild claims.
