People are overreacting imo. What has happened to MtGox won't influence Bitcoins in the long run. There are multiple exchanges online waiting to overtake MtGox's position, and the general feelings towards Bitcoins will remain the same. It's the exchange that's been faulty, not the workings of the cryptocoin. Even MtGox itself repeatedly warned traders to keep their Bitcoin savings stored in offline wallets in case something would go amiss.
