I love building ITX machines. I have one as an HTPC, one as a desktop running CAD, and one I gave to my parents.
Something smaller is very cool - but the lack of PCIe makes it a no-go for me in most cases.
If I wanted to give up PCIe, I'd get a NUC, which is fanless and much smaller.
