I think my main hope is that the game is able to separate it's "open world" gameplay from the glut of recent high profile open world games. Titles like Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Tomb Raider are all starting to blur together with a similar system of collectibles/points of interests scattered over a map that seem to be there to pad a relatively short campaign, but are too shallow to provide a quality experience.

I agree with this so damn much. The open-world genre is becoming as played out as zombies. An excuse to have miles and miles of open land, but nothing to do in between.
