Satellite Images Show Massive Reduction In US Air Pollution
Air pollution is still a problem, especially worldwide, but these images show things have recently improved in the US. Levels of nitrogen dioxide began declining soon after enactment of the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments, and have continued to fall. Overall, levels of nitrogen dioxide have declined by more than 50 percent since 2000, according to the EPA. About 142 million people still live in areas in the United States with unhealthy levels of air pollution, NASA noted.
