'What lion?' Zimbabweans ask, amid global Cecil circus
"Why are the Americans more concerned than us?" said Joseph Mabuwa, a 33-year-old father-of-two cleaning his car in the center of the capital. "We never hear them speak out when villagers are killed by lions and elephants in Hwange."

The nationality of the lion never mattered. What matters is the nationality of the hunter. Trophy hunting is considered something abominable by many people of the western world as seen by the reactions. Since Mr. Palmer took the spotlight of the western media, he is suffering the consequences.
So, let's examine the facts here: Dr. Palmer claimed he knew the hunt was on the up and up, yet he and his guides lured the animal out of the park to kill it. Then, they tried to destroy the GPS tracker that the animal was wearing (and failed).
At the absolute best, this just means that Dr. Palmer is prone to making the worst possible decisions, since he's shown at repeated line of them in this hunt and following media storm. Add to the mix his past sexual harassment lawsuit, and the year he served on probation for lying to a game warden about where he killed a bear, and it seems more likely that this man is just a person who will say or do whatever is necessary to get what he wants.
It doesn't matter what the average citizen of Zimbabwe thinks about this matter, or even if they think about it at all. Their ignorance or apathy doesn't do anything to make Dr. Palmer's bad decisions any better.
Their ignorance or apathy? You sound like a racist animal rights jerk all right. Hope you're proud of yourself.
Not seeing that holding Palmer to account is any basis for a wild accusation like that.
Mr. Mabuwa is right. The animal rights movement cares nothing about the lives of people. Ever hear of conservation refugees? They are powerful and rich enough now to push small countries around and are as bad as any other corporate assholes.
