    This is almost exactly what I picture under the surface. I know it's not true, but the logical part of me just can't beat that innate fear of the deep dark ocean, known and unknown terrors underneath the surface. I like this image because it illustrates my fears without making me close the window in a hurry, like other images of the depths where you can only see a glimpse of... something.

      TBH I sometimes still imagine Gyarados under the water... The Official Pokémon Handbook (1999) scarred me for life.

      Same here. When I look down and see only dark water I assume the worst. I think our brains evolved to interpret "nothing" as "probably full of monsters". It makes sense as a survival strategy.
