There was a time when I used to respect Discovery channel and the television programming they had. Now just like the "History" channel, MTV and all the other stations, it went to shit, sold out for ratings build on bullshit. The whole fucking internet is going that direction too (Upworthy, Buzzfeed, etc) the world of information is going be be one moronic place in 10 years time.

I don't get how BS like ancient aliens is on the history channel. Or pawn stars. Or countless other snoozefest shows.

Pawnstars actually isn't that bad, but the scripting is becoming obvious that it's mostly all fake. Some guy even posted a video on youtube a while back showing that most of their pawn store just sells Pawnstars merchandise such as t-shirts and mugs.

The thing is, all of these shows are bullshit, its all scripted and made to look legitimate because the writers seem to think that people don't have the attention span for real TV anymore. Literally, all the shows you discover are nothing more than a fictional scripts full of bullshit, nothing is real anymore... its all tainted by the ratings monster.

That's the direction of television now-a-days. It's all about the viewer numbers and profits.

Back when we had tv I never watched SW..We finally got so sick of the poor quality of the shows and all the ads and the increasing price of cable,we ditched it. The only over the air broadcasts I'd watch would be PBS and i fear that may go the way of the rest someday as well.

I hope you mean only the educational and reality stuff. TV has been the best it's ever been over the last few years.

I don't think anyone can rag on non-reality based TV shows, those shows are better than ever.
