Top Gawker Editors Resign After Controversial Story Pulled
Gawker Media executive editor Tommy Craggs and Gawker site editor-in-chief Max Read called the decision to pull the post an unacceptable violation of the divide between Gawker's business and editorial operations.

I understand were the editors are coming from here, but taking down the story was the right thing to do. It was an unwarranted hit job of an article, and in today's world where googling is a thing, leaving it up would have permanently hurt the targets reputation. I'm a big fan of gawker for their modern day muckraking, but this story went too far. Maybe the editors leaving will be better in the long run.
Frankly, I first assumed they resigned in shame over having approved the story in the first place. Helping a blackmailer out a random person is not okay.
