Why are people so obsessed with Facebook? I have an account, but typically log in to it once every week or two. Most of what you find there is people forwarding links to crappy articles and inviting you to play silly/bad games. I use it mostly for the purpose of remembering birthdays and occasionally finding out where a former friend I've been thinking about is. That's pretty much the only useful purpose for it I can think of.

I'm on a similar boat. But I really don't like how FB follows me around online with their comments other tracking bs.

I only have it because I'm cheap, I don't pay for data and I pay by the minute on my phone, so their Messenger app is basically free texting for me because anybody I really wanna talk to is on that. I do my best to avoid personal data on the page too and ask everybody to never share photo's of me, doesn't work 100% but it's better than posting every step I take like some people.

"Facebook’s instincts here are understandable, but also worrying. It finally recognizes its power and the ways in which that power has caused problems in the world, but its instinct is to wield that power even more, rather than back off. Given that Facebook seems unlikely to police itself, it’s up to its users and other organizations to start to exert pressure for it to do so."
