He launched a fake kickstarter-esque crowdsourcing effort to buy CNN. No one can actually contribute money, it's a joke.
Yup, you are absolutely correct, says right in the story.
"So that’s where the Daily Show host’s campaign comes in. Stewart’s LetsBuyCNN.com mimics a Kickstarter page, though it doesn’t actually allow users to contribute money toward the goal. Hypothetically, a contribution of $1 billion would allow you to host a CNN anchor Hunger Games-style fight to the death."
Thought it would make an interesting post, get people talking. Think of the possibilities if we get away from 2 folks owning all our news sources to all of us owning it. Wouldn't that be a kick in the pants to Turner/Murdoch? I for one look forward to the day!
This could be a tall order, but it is possible.
