    It, the decision is not as portrayed in this article. The Russians were months away from any actual invasion of Japan, they were confronted with moving the Japanese off the continent. Their show of force in the east was planned with the allies, though months late than scheduled. "Academic historians" who question it's use depend on radio intercepts from sources in Japan. The preparations for invasion in Japan itself belie these very intercepts along with the military attempt to usurp the Emporer. All one can say as to fact, is the bombs ended the war.
