Overhauls and revolutions need a solid foundation. The Green Party and the Libertarian Party don't understand that. They have little to no presence in state and local governments, so they have no success at the national level. The Tea Party does understand that. It does have a presence in state and local governments, and Ted Cruz came frighteningly close to winning the Republican nomination. The Republican Party controls a majority of state legislatures and governorships (state supreme courts too?). So even if Hillary Clinton wins in a landslide and the Democrats take control of the US Senate, any talk of the fall of the Republican Party is, at best, very premature.
