James McPherson spoke about his book, Battle Cry of Freedom: The Civil War Era, and the end of the Civil War. He also spoke about how the conflict was still relevant 150 years later. He spoke with Gettysburg College Civil War Institute director Peter Carmichael. “Reflecting on Battle Cry of Freedom: A Conversation with James McPherson” was part of the 35th annual summer conference of the Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College, “The Civil War in 1865,” looking at the end of the Civil War, its aftermath, and the Reconstruction era.
