These two photos that stood out from my last two trips to Japan.

Asakusa Side Street - This one was pure luck. We were taking random night photos. We actually missed having a cat in the photo, so we were bummed at the shots until we got home and saw this one. - April 2012

Yasaka Shrine - First attempt of an over exposure (actually using a tripod). I eventually entered it in the K's House photo competition, got to the final 8, but didn't win. Oh well, at least we still have the memories of our epic 26 day long (Osaka, Kagoshima, Kumamoto, Beppu, Nagasaki, Hiroshima, Kyoto, Osaka) trip.

    Enjoy.

As mentioned in the comment. The Asakusa one was pure luck. We did nothing to enhance the image other than slightly rotate it (and I mean slightly). The Yasaka one we were taking a lot of over exposure pics throughout that shrine. We've got some nice ones but that one was probably the best. The K's House staff member said that those Shrine gates are meant to be a gateway from the real world to a sacred place, so the barrier of light that was created from the overexposed traffic helped to show the chaos outside and the calmness inside.

All of these were flukes. We were just after some nice shots, they turned out better than we had expected.

Lovely pictures, although memories of tsuyu are already causing me to bundle into the nearest blanket.

Here are some other snaps you may like...
