Former Manchester Bookstore Owner Tries To Sell The Rest Of His Collection
When Gil Salk closed his used and rare bookstore in 2003, he still had 150,000 books. Salk, 72, of Hebron, operated his store, Books & Birds, from 1980 to 2003. It had been in Manchester since 1985. The store was built on Salk's own love of reading. "My grandfather owned a couple of glass-front bookcases full of interesting books," Salk said. "I used to love going through those. It stayed with me."
