He has every reason to be upset over it. The government's bullshit did some major damage to a lot of web based and cloud companies.
That said, I have heard facebook got much of its funding from "dubious" sources:

I heard this a LONG time ago too. About the same time as that article was published. I especially remember when the whole pic tagging was released and people saying that it was based on face recognition and not just manual user tagging.
