I love the look of the look of the Shinto Shrine architectures. They seem so simple compared to the architecture of today but they have a complex way of joining the wood together. To me they also seem to blend into the surrounding area so well, like everything was meant to be where it is naturally. I, unfortunately, have never visited one.
I agree. Fitting with Shintoist beliefs, everything is meant to belong with nature, which makes for some pretty beautiful yet simple shrines.
