Before VICE News correspondent Simon Ostrovsky was detained on April 21 and held by pro-Russia separatists in Sloviansk, he filed this dispatch featuring an interview with his future captor, the city's self-appointed "people's mayor," Vyacheslav Ponomarev. Simon was released on Thursday. Contains one shot of dead body.

VICE Journalist Released Into Hands Of CBC In Ukraine
A VICE journalist who was being held by pro-Russia separatists in Eastern Ukraine has been released into the hands of the CBC. Simon Ostrovsky, who has been reporting on the crisis in Ukraine in video dispatches since early March, was let go on Thursday and proceeded to travel to Donetsk with journalists from the CBC.
