Sometimes dumb puns are the best part of a discussion.

If it's not both interesting and fun, I don't see myself sticking around.

There needs to be a balance.

It probably doesn't hurt that computers make it easier to go left to right.

Normally, the screen origin is in the upper left increasing to the right and down. All the CRTs I'm aware of scan left to right, so the memory layout just makes sense.

You can absolutely scroll to the left, but your first instinct would be to write code to scroll right since otherwise you'd probably have to start your screen at the end of graphics memory, minus the size of one screen and then count backwards. It's way more obvious to start at the beginning of graphics memory and count up through it.

After a few games were written, primarily going the other direction would feel odd.

    This sounds really good!

I've wanted a Replay for years, but they are so hard to order that I haven't made my mind up to justify the cost.

I'd rather have the CPU expansion capability of the Replay, but the price of this is low enough just to get it for the hell of it.

    I don't think it's stupid at all.

I had the same question, so you're not alone. It's a whole new UI to get acquainted with.

Oh, just wait until you get to know us. /s

Honestly, this is the only functional one I've tried. How is anyone trying the others?

I've never seen voat, it has been offline since I started looking. Several others were up, but not really working or has such small communities that it wasn't worth the trouble.

Snapzu seems full enough with enough capacity to even be an option.

I agree in theory, but reddit is already causing a glut of low-hanging fruit.

To be fair, most people are on reddit. Getting just the small fraction of them that I came in with is exposing scaling problems.

One thing that might pull some users over would be to write an article on coping with the deluge of reddit users and how the admins expanded to handle the technical challenges. It's still news at the moment and a good technical achievement.

That could then be seeded to other discussion sites without looking like too much of an advertisement.
