"LMNOP" is an old internet convention; back when the acronym was just LGBT. Now it's LGBTQ - but Q alone is not enough, as he often demonstrated to Jean-Luc.
LMNOP is for those people who are queer, of course - but they may mention something else first, and then remember that, oh yes, "queer" is pretty significant too. It's also for those who are allies, or who see LGBTQ issues as supporting their own. I see it as a culture of shared, relaxed tolerance.
If you were to imagine all the colors in the rainbow flag in a seamless spectrum from top to bottom and gaining and losing intensity from left to right - now you have the idea.
It's Intersectionality run amok. And it's about the human right to be unique - but with overlapping features.
