I've had almost all without sedation. The sedation is for the doctor and the anaesthetist. The anaesthetist gets paid, the doctor doesn't have to think about the patient. It's doctors who want to insist on sedation.

Cool!!! I gather you have found the experience as interesting as I have. Why did you choose no sedation?

So it's faster with sedation also I gather? Dosen't have to think about the patient? Hummmm,I don't like the implications of that.

Done properly (with water instead of gas) even someone like me, with IBS, can get through it without so much as a twinge. Since my 3rd. one,I've moved to a different state and got a new GI Dr. He did not want to do me unsedated cause he was afraid I'd jump if he found a polyp and removed it. I had a huge polyp removed and watched the whole thing,so no,I won't move since it does not hurt. Anyway,he plans to scope me this summer, admitted to doing unsedated scopes and all will be fine.
