Man, the unfortunate thing (for reddit, I suppose) is this just continues to show how good she is at PR. It only makes the contrast between what she did and said versus what the rest of the reddit admins did/said more stark. The irony of the situation is that letting her go is the reason they needed her skills the most.,
She's been getting job offers left and right since leaving. I wonder where she'll end up. If it's a content aggregation site, then reddit might be losing even more users.
I wasn't involved in the crisis at reddit, and I don't have an opinion about her dismissal, but I think she sounds like a sweetheart. Always got a good vibe from her. That's a great quality for a community manager to have, moreso when you can communicate it across the Internet.
It's even more important when she was the person who would contact celebrities to do the AMAs.
The plain truth is that she is just extremely likable. The reason why she was so good at her job is because people liked her. After all of this drama has blown over, this is really the final thing that truly stumps me. Why did they handle things the way they did. Maybe it had to do with the fact that she was all the way on the other side of the country so they didn't realize what a figure she was. I just remember that she was the only non CEO or board member that I knew existed and I knew people like her. Just a weird situation all around.
It's not really that weird IMO. Reddit has extremely poor leadership, pretty much always has.
It's the reason that they struggle to monetize and it's the reason that the dealt with Victoria (and all of the fall out) so poorly.
The funny thing is that they're still letting Alexis Ohanian (kn0thing) make decisions about things and he's the reason they went through a lot of this mess to begin with.
Well he is one of the co-founders.
Yeah, but they got bought years ago and the majority shareholder is Conde Nast or whatever that company is. He doesn't have to be making decisions anymore if they didn't want him to be, right?
