Sentinelese people kill anybody who tries to reach their island
An indigenous tribe has lived on North Sentinel Island with limited contact from the outside world for the past 60,000 years. Anybody who has tried to contact the Sentinelese people has been killed, or at least drawn a violent reaction from the community. The island which rests in the Indian Ocean, is so dangerous for outsiders to attempt to visit that India’s government has established a three-mile exclusion zone to prevent more violence.

*edit Reason: "None of the Above" awesome

I think we've got trolls.
yeah, that's why i was never active on reddit i hate down votes for no reason. If this will not get better i don't see me getting old on this site.
I don't think we'll be able to avoid it in any site where users can do their own voting. It's best to just shrug and keep doing what you've been doing.
True but you can make it harder. Right now there is no responsibility. I made a suggestion in the down vote thread, lets see what the bosses thing about it. :) http://snapzu.com/t/blog/tribepost/M3AUCDB/up...ll-sub-systems-dependent-on-it/comments/24912
It would be harder to do here due to simultaneously posting to multiple tribes, but on Reddit it is possible to turn off downvotes with an individual subreddit's CSS.
Is there some kind of troll repellant?
I agree. We are infested!
Hmm...maybe it's the observation that humans have been around longer than six to ten thousand years?
hmm... at this point 7/17/15 92 up vs 3 down so bit of a nonissue. if down votes make you self-conscious maybe stick to fb or something like that where favorable feedback is the only option. posting redundant content, especially something already popular in other sharing communities or presented previously here on snapzu a year ago should have earned you more than three down votes imo. i search through published snaps and comments relating to the topic i'm thinking of submitting to see if my link might better serve as an additional contribution to previously posted content. up AND down voting is snapzu's integrity and for the most part (obviously your snap being an exception) it works.
3 out of 85 now... Why bother saying anything within the first hour of posting?
You're being downvoted by sentinelese. They have infiltrated society to keep themselves safe.
Yea, I was wondering the same thing. Seems like there's more downvotes on this post than usual.
Madhusree Mukherjee's The Land of Naked People is a good book to know about the Sentinelese and the effects of human interaction with them.
Thanks, sounds really interesting.
Oh thanks for the recommendation. I'm going to add it to my Amazon list. But I loled at "human interaction," it makes it sound like they're aliens or something. But I know what you mean.
In 10th grade, we talked a lot about the Bushmen. All I really remember was how some of them reacted to coke bottles. Pure excitement.
The tribe involved is called the Jarawa. They are one of about 10 tribes in those islands and by far the most removed from interaction with outsiders - though that is changing of late. That change has not gone well in many cases.. Perhaps the most depressing is the Human Safari aspect that has developed around a road that cuts through the Jarawa's territorial reserve.
I wondered whether this story was true, and it seems that it is. I'm surprised that they've been left alone all this time.
Just thinking about what their lives and thoughts of outsiders are is interesting.
Particularly I'm wondering about stereotypically marginalized groups in patriarchal tribes. If you were to somehow be able to approach and effectively communicate with women, weaker men, etc. their possible status in a modern society and give them the option to pick, I wonder what would happen.

This is really cool stuff. Thanks for sharing!
The psycho in me would want to bomb the island with sleeping gas, knock everyone out, and check the place out. Even better send some bird like drones and just check out their civilization. The less of a disturbance the better.
Can you imagine being them?! This shit is tripping me out.
I wonder how they feel about helicopters and planes flying by. That must be scary as shit.
There's so much they don't know about, like cheese or dogs.
This is amazing. I wonder how many, if any, of the Sentinelese have left the island. According to the Wiki entry, two elderly Sentinelese (who died) and two children were kidnapped, but the children were returned.
Man. They should make a movie based off that shipwreck.
They should be left alone, IMO.
