No. I wish I was, but I'm not the pioneering type. I either had to know that the colony was safely up and running or that it was a round trip. Plus, if I had to live with only 3 other people for 2 whole years, I'd probably go insane, haha! Would you?

That's a good reason but for sure equally important is what holds you back, your social life. I have no strong connections in my life so going would be easier for me I guess.
So the answer is yes, i would go, even when your second point would be a problem for me as well. ;)
I almost forgot: The fact that they plan to make it a reality show doesn't appeal to me either :/
Aside from being an incredibly inspiring project, do you believe that Mars One is doable? From what little I've read about it, it seems there are so many issues that needs to be resolved before sending humans to live on Mars, that aiming for 2026 isn't really realistic.
This video confuses me. They start by saying that there are 660 finalists left but then focus on these 3 as if they are going. Are they each finalists and if so why were they the only one interviewed?
Why does the video focus on such bazaar things and ignore other questions that would be much more interesting or rather relevant to whether they'd be chosen or not. Like what skills or knowledge do you believe you'd bring to the mission that other's couldn't that would make it more of a success? What would you hope to achieve if you make it to mars?
They only slightly hinted at the one persons qualifications. Surely it's important what the person does and what research they could offer to the project? Also what does being able to name pi have to do with anything. It seems that the stuff he was lecturing was way more useful to the project.
Anywah, just didn't understand the angle they took on the story is all.
This selection represents all 660 finalists: You have the nerd, the pretty girl and the black guy. What more do you need? Their qualifications at the moment don't matter, because they'll have eleven years to learn all they need to know.
Jokes aside, I think of it nothing more than a snippet of how humans see themselves, Earth and unchartered territory. Beautiful and inspiring.
Well I'm glad they picked emotionally and mentally stable individuals as finalists. One of the things that various militaries in history have required of high stakes operatives is family. They required hope. They required a reason to live on. These people don't have that at all. These people want to step on Mars and then die. They don't want to colonize. They just want to die on Mars.

I so love the idea that we're sending people to Mars! Yet, I'm so sceptical to the whole Mars One project...
Would you go? Granted you had the skills to do it but with the knowledge you would never make it back?

I am not gonna pretend to be able to guess if it realistic. I hope we will be able to visit mars in my lifetime.
