I did a presentation in college about "scareware" and how to recognize it/avoid it. It was a project that I was very passionate about because I always found it frustrating how easily the creators of this sort of thing are able to prey on the less-informed users of technology. Not only does it put people who don't know any better at risk, it also scares some people away from using computers at all. I could list so many friends and family members whose lives could be made so much easier if they fully embraced the technology around them, but sadly, things like the scams describes here are exactly why they never will. These infographics are pretty great. Education is the only solution. It's such a shame that something as wonderful as the Internet can suck so hard sometimes. :/
