Man I wish they'd just focus on us getting out and living mostly comfortably in space first. then maybe they wouldn't have to piss about with wars and shizz in the first place.
Why all of a sudden is there discussion of a "war in space"? Just because other countries happen to be putting equipment into orbit doesn't mean there's a sudden threat. It's silly, stupid, and an utter waste of resources to do so.
That being said, there is a very real threat to Earth if something like that were to occur. The Kessler syndrome is a cascading effect where shrapnel from destroyed objects crash into new objects, which crash into other objects. You can end up putting up enough shit into orbit where it ends up making it utterly unusable for anyone else on Earth.
I'll believe it when I see it quite frankly.
Well war in space would speed up development and research of space related technologies. As sad as it may be war in space would likely get us off earth even faster.
