Warm Bodies

The zombie craze is not over. Will it ever be over? If movies like this keep getting made then I hope not. Our whole family enjoyed Warm Bodies. A zombie love story, it had something for everyone. Blood, guts, thrill, action & romance. Not to mention the music they picked to punctuate the film was really cool. If a zombie movie could be called "tasteful" then I think this would be the one.

  • Apocolpytic Movie Genres Did Not Stop On 12/21/12

Add to the list of tongue-in-cheek zombie thrillers like Shaun of the Dead a new flick. Romance with vampires has been done, romance with wherewolves and all sorts of story book characters has been done. Now Zombie Love has been done. And well, might I add.

Main character "R" played by Nicholas Hoult is lovable and borders on hunky, although zombie makeup hides much of his charm. I kept trying to place him. Surely such a charismatic actor I had seen before? But no, upon searching his resume, I hadn't seen "About A Boy", "Jack The Giant Slayer" or "Weather Man" nor the countless other things he's done. Thankfully this main stream movie could give Hoult better exposure.

"R"'s best friend "M" is Rob Corddry. I kept trying to place him and as it turns out he's the clown doctor on Comedy Central's "Children's Hospital"

Leading lady Australian Teresa Palmer who plays "Julie" is a similar story. Most notably appearing in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" she is what I would describe as emergent.  Beautiful, blond and looking more like someone who should be modeling swimsuits.

John Malkovich plays the father of Julie/political leader of the colony of uninfected human population during this zombie problem. He's great. Like usual.

Lastly, James Franco's brother Dave plays Perry, Julie's boyfriend. If you didn't know he was James's brother, you probably wouldn't know.

Most of the elements of this movie have been seen & done before. Fans of The Walking Dead will slip comfortably into the storyline and will remain sucked in by "R" & "Julie"s charm. It's no wonder imdb.com fans give it a solid 7 stars. If you have to wait to rent it, no worries. I expect to see 'Warm Bodies' run again and again on popular movie stations and basic cable in no time at all.

As if the zombie fans out there won't watch it, right? As big as the craze is, there is not always a lot to choose from. Whatever comes out gets watched immediately & ravenously!
