My grandmother wanted to transfer photos from her Android phone to her laptop. I told her that she just needed to plug it in and then open up Picasa and import the photos as usual, just like she would from her camera. This is where the problems start. She says that it is not the same because with her camera, she takes out the SD card and plugs it into the laptop, no cables involved. I tell her that she just plugs it in and then everything will be like normal. After she does some digging around, she finds the cable for her phone, I was sitting in the room next to hear when she shouts

Grandmother: Where do I plug it in? Me: Just plug it in anywhere G: Ok. Some time passes G: It is not working, what do I need to do. M: *I check that the phone is indeed plugged in, although it does feel a bit loose. I then check whether the phone detects the computer. M: *I check the cable again and wonder why it is so loose. After standing around for a while I decide to check the cable a third time by pulling it out and I notice that it is plugged into the ethernet jack. M: dear god G: What? M: *lost for words M: Does this connector (on the cable) have the same shape as this jack? G: You said I could plug it in anywhere! M: Does it have the same shape? G: No, but you said I could plug it in anywhere! M: Obviously I meant anywhere that has the same connector. G: Well, I didn't look, you said I could plug it in anywhere! M: I meant anyone of the 4 free USB ports -_- G: You said I could plug it in anywhere. M: Well obviously it has to be the same shape and same connector, otherwise it won't work. *I plug in the cable to a USB port and everything works fine.

Sometimes you wonder how these people made it past kindergarten where you have to put the shapes through the holes.
