I was intrigued by this attempt to depict the relative distances of worlds in our solar system - but why no Pluto ?! Because it is a mere dwarf-planet ? Surely this belittles the recent astounding feat of the New Horizons flypast of the most distant world ? The fact that there was not even a reason given is sloppy. Patronising pseudo-science wrapped in a feelgood video.

For me, the rot set in when AVG began installing a 'Yahoo' toolbar, and various other third party nonsense designed to supplant my chosen browser (Firefox at the time ). It was sad to see, but that was a few years ago now, so this is the final nail in the virtual coffin for me. I replaced it with Comodo and Malwarebytes, but even they are starting to falter. I also had issues with Avast, and now use ESET as a paid anti-virus. Personally, I think we need a genuinely neutral assesment of some of these programmes. I know it's difficult in this age of pop-ups . Everything has an ad or sponsor now...

An excellent article - I'm pleased to see Terence McKennas thoughts being spread widely. It seems he was marginalised as a 'psychonaut', which is a shame, as so many of his ideas remain relevant and fascinating. I often wonder what he would make of current developments, and our virtual creation of a parallel 'online' universe. I highly recommend his book 'The Archaic Revival'.

Okay, fascinating stuff, and I'm going to show my ignorance here, but itf they have to ensure it will not harm animals or humans before re-energising the virus, why are they even doing it, anyway ?

I'm not a scientist, but I found this disappointing. It seems a tad obvious to say the least, and contains some sloppy thinking. The very first 'conjecture', that life may be found on planets orbitting other stars within the next hundred years or so, blatantly ignores the recently discovered subsurface oceans on moons in our own solar system - which may well harbour aquatic life-forms, even if microbial. Then there is the presumptuous leap which implies intelligent design (in the act of deliberate seeding), which could be allegedly deduced from patterns of distribution - even though it is also accepted that planets originally seeded may well have altered orbits over the millenia. In short, this seems a poorly put together proposition which is far - reaching yet simultaneously ignorant of current discoveries . Sloppy science, shame on them.

Interesting stuff - although on another note, which occurred to me as I read this piece - given that 'terrain' refers to Earth / Terra, will we invent new terminology for other worlds ? Or will that remain undecided until we begin to live out there?

Interesting, if brief piece. That such a subculture should exist in such an insular, arrogant state is really quite saddening. What a horrible waste.

I am tired of attempting to read internet pages, only to hear loud dialogue and obnoxious music coming from Autoplay Ads elsewhere on the page - like being in a public library getting followed around by people with megaphones and noisy toys. It's annoying and intrusive, and smacks of desperation. I can understand that ad people must be frustrated and somehow need to be 'seen' in a way that requires dramatic intervention. There doesn't seem to be an easy answer, but I refuse to be even remotely interested in anything that is so blatant. The problem is that too many advertisers simply view the internet as another potential source of revenue, even if that only means hijacking someones bandwidth . Which makes advertisers the real pirates.
