I'm in the process of trying out my shortlist of VPN choices. I'm liking AirVPN right now, the speeds seem good, and the security is as good as a VPN can offer.

I have a question: does logging in to websites on a VPN defeat your anonymity? From what I understand, heuristics can identify a person in about a day.

I believe logging in does identify you, the catch here is that your local ISP should not be able to see what you are doing,(Facebook, etc will know though) they should only see you are online and using the VPN software. When choosing a VPN I look for one that promises to keep absolutely no logs other than you were online on their service.
