This project does promise to bring hundreds (if not thousands of jobs) into Haiti, especially in Port-Au-Prince. My problems are two-fold: Will these jobs be outsourced to foreign labor (leaving potential Haitian laborers and technicians out in the cold); and what are the projected long-term effects on the local and regional environment?
Too often we see reports of these grand projects that have been undertaken and unveiled in Haiti, but no one really talks about the impact on Haitians themselves.
