I found this article interesting, not just for the beautiful artwork, but also for the mention of how fairy tales used to be. It is interesting to see how they have changed over time.

I'm not that old, only 46. When I was very young I had a 3 book set from Disney - Adventureland, Fantasyland and something else land (maybe Tomorrow?). I pretty much read the Fantasyland book exclusively. I remember in the Snow White story the Queen gave the Hunter a jeweled box and sent him to find Snow White. She expected him to bring back her liver in that jeweled box. I think parents today would be horrified at that. By the time my son was in elementary school (he's 28 now), the fairytales all had saccharine endings where no one died or was eaten.

I think if I ever have grandchildren, I will be seeking out some of the older style fairy tale books!
