IMO mobile and PC will ultimately combine into the same device in the coming years. We're already seeing that with combo laptop/tablets and as we can fit more and more power into our mobile devices they'll take over the simple stuff our PCs do.

You'll bring your phone to work and it will connect to your monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. You'll do your work on it and then when you get home the same thing. However, thats not to say niche markets for high powered computing won't still exists. Gaming, video and image editing, coding, etc are all going to require higher end machines. But for a large percentage of people all they do is e-mail and web browsing with some word processing or spreadsheet work. Current phones can handle that stuff pretty easily at the moment, whats missing is the ease of hooking up all your peripherals.

I so badly want this game to be amazing but I can't shake the feeling we're all getting Molyneux'd. Have they announced the release date for it yet? I'm curious how "finished" what they are showing off is?

I was thinking more along the lines of adapting the tech to things you wouldn't immediately think of. Using the idea of distributed trust to create a lightweight escrow service for example. Bitcoin is the pioneer of the tech, but its uses go beyond a currency format.

Its funny how people can react violently to other peoples success. If you don't like him thats fine, but it doesn't mean he's evil or an asshole for finding success for himself. Everyone has different tastes in different things and would you not wish the best on someone you were a fan of?

Most stories I've read about bitcoin tend to focus on the sensational, boom or bust aspect of cryptocurrencies. It's nice to see an article address that its the underlying tech that is really the important thing. Having a distributed system of trust that is based on mathematical principals is crazy powerful. I'm very eager to see what becomes of that tech in its 4th and 5th big iterations.
