Great Train Journeys-The Indian Pacific (Australia)

From the Indian ocean on the west coast to the Pacific ocean on the east, the Indian Pacific train travels 4,352 km on a journey that takes 3 nights and 4 days, travelling through a diversity of environments along the longest railway track in the world. I was able to get a pic just before she pulled out today.

I would like to take this train trip. Has anyone traveled on this train?

Its on my bucket list. I had a chat to the train driver today and he recommended going gold or platinum class as things can get a bit rowdy going across the desert in the other carriages. Wild backpackers :)

I took train rides across Europe in different "classes", and personally liked the one with the 6 beds in one room so once you party it up for a bit you can get some real rest as at times it takes about 14-16 hours to arrive at your destination. One of the best travelling experiences one can have! Those wild backpackers are indeed rowdy :D

I know what you mean, having travelled through Europe in my younger, wilder days. But from what the driver was telling me it went beyond partying, to having to get the cops out in the middle of the desert to physically remove people from the train. Beyond Boisterous in the Outback- showing at a cinema near you.

Yeah no, that never happened! Must have been some real characters on board for a train to stop and throw people out.
