I wonder why the author dismisses the Mojito as "modern-day" when it is actually as old or older than the drinks she suggests we go back to. Odd.
Decent article anyway, and as a Manhattan drinker (well, to be honest I drink almost anything but if I were to choose one that is "my drink" it would have to be a Manhattan) I appreciate that she specifies Rye as the correct whiskey. I find 9 out of 10 bartenders reach for Bourbon when I order a Manhattan, and while still an enjoyable drink it's not quite right. If I want Bourbon, I'll take it simply on the rocks.
