Most animal-health research focuses on infections that have already made the leap to people. That may be too late. A more effective use of time and money, they say, would be to focus on wildlife diseases before they spread to livestock, and livestock diseases before they spread to people.

Well a lot of info is out there on zoonodic diseases. When I volunteered at a wildlife shelter, everyone had to come to the shelter and read the big blue book of zoonodic diseases...It was the size of a huge phone book. After reading it, we had to sign a release form. It was also quite disturbing..Go look up the raccoon roundworm. You will never want to take a walk in the woods again.
