Really good post /u/Autumnal. Fat Freddy's Drop is an amazing band and not very well known, but probably only because they come from little ol' New Zealand (I mean that in the nicest possible way).
But their fans go absolutely nuts for them and for really good reason. Their albums are amazing, particularly "Based on a True Story" which is comfortably in my top 5 favorite albums of all time.
Not only that, but when they play live they do lots of improv and they just go wherever the music takes them on the night. I've seen them a number of times and every gig feels different and like you're just watching super-talented artists jamming... which, actually, is pretty much exactly what is happening hahaha
