Actually most bacteria are harmless, or even good for you, so not giving up my bottle. When I see some obvious biofilm forming I just dump it in the dishwasher.
It is indeed and all that is is brainless scaremongering. The important word here is the word "may". Take kefir...Look it up,I'll wait. Done? Good. I make kefir milk and cheese...I have used the same starter for over a year. You'd think this stuff,which is basically fermented milk, would make me really sick..But nope. So I'm more than a little skeptical that anything said on that page is worth worrying about. Blame it on drinking kefir.

The article makes a silly comparison. Most of the bacteria in your water bottle didn't come from someone's butt (unless you also use it as an enema bottle), they are most likely from your own mouth/skin flora.
Yes it does. It's just over the top stupidity. Your own flora is harmless to you and from what I've read,your gut bacteria is as well.
