Edison was more of a “money man” who had visions he would relentlessly struggle to bring into the realm of reality. To do this he would hire great minds like Tesla. Tesla, on the other hand, was a “do for the people” type of guy, which was his downfall. In modern terms, Edison was the Microsoft of his times, and Tesla was the Linux of his times. This is not meant to mean that Linux is on it's way out, but there are some very powerful forces that go after things that are geared towards “for the people”, and Tesla was brought down by these forces, big time.
