Libertarians haven't made any progress as Libertarianism is regressive from a societal standpoint. I mean, do you seriously think that if we ended the EPA that corporations would just magically start caring for the environment, or is it more likely that they would continue to destroy the environment in the name of profits? The EPA was started for a reason, and the reason was not to create federal jobs. How about OSHA? In your world corporations will just do the right thing and make sure their employees are safe. How about Medicare? In the Libertarian ideal old people would just simply be taken care of by the generous people in society. Where are those generous people? They don't exist in large enough numbers to take care of a household, let alone a country.
I was a Libertarian. Ron Paul was the first political candidate that I gave money to. Then I started looking at the platform and realized that it's insane.
Ha Ha, Ron Paul was the only political candidate I gave money too several years ago when he was running. I liked what he was saying about the war, about monetary policy, personal responsibility, an overreaching and unaccountable government.....and all of those still ring true with me. Having said that, societies do need responsible stewardship. You can't trust the good natured corporations to be equitable and besides, they are so totally connected and in sync, that the so called competition aspect of self regulation or market correcting is meaningless.
Today's systems in general are corrupted with special interests and money. We have allowed an oligarchy to form and it is entrenching itself through the gaming of the two party system, slowly eroding the checks and balances that were built into the system. You can call the ruling parties whatever you want today, they are more interested in self preservation than in reasonably governing. You are seeing a populist uprising in the making. I'm not so sure the Clinton Establishment machine is going to win this election, and then the circus comes to town.

You get it. I wish there were 50 million more just like you.
