I don't know. Think of all the backward scientific dogma piled up in heaps however many ages ago. The once-settled science around the efficacy and importance of bloodletting, the best available scholarship at one time around the weird practices of the witches and warlocks in our very midst, the development from first principles of the art and science of the inquisitor — we’ve no problem recognizing these as bizarrely misguided as they were once thought painstakingly developed and unquestionably proven so. Similarly, today’s ‘science’ may one day be recognized for its unspoken assumptions and inexplicable psychic baggage. My guess is that the scientific materialism of our time will give way yet to something else. Who knows what?
