I understand that scientists have been promoting this idea that we still can do something about global warming on the basis of hope (of being able to revert it, and of humanity not being unbelievably greedy and stupid). But I honestly don't think it is true. We have set things in motion that cannot be reverted, even if by some miracle every government and corporation in the world woke up and did the best they could to stop it (which is never going to happen). The permafrost in Siberia is already thawing, and it's going to pump much more greenhouse gas into the atmosphere than we are. More and more tropical and temperate land is turning to desert, and the boreal forests are dying instead of thriving in the increased temperatures. At this point it is just a question of how many decades we have left before Earth becomes unlivable.
I'm actually starting to feel sorry about having brought kids into this world.
If you hadn't you'd regret that too.
And this could have been prevented, except of course for $$$$$$. Hard to collect $$$$$ when your dead.
