I have spent a considerate amount of time with Indians in Latin America. Many tribes will drink a table spoon or 2 of vinegar a day to keep mosquitoes from biting. It works.

When i was in Phuket my legs were a very tasty snack for the mozzys and i was coming up in massive welts everytime i got a bite. I went to the onsite nurse and she basically handed me a pot of red tigerbalm.
I was sceptical but it worked wonderfully both to soothe the bites i already had by drawing out the stuff that makes them itchy as all hell. secondly she assured me that rubbing it over my skin would prevent further bites from the mozzys as they couldn't stand the stuff. Plus I got to smell like cinnamon for a week.
amazing abilities by such a small animal
