These sorts of cases are interesting and difficult. I can't imagine that the lawyers wouldn't be able to effectively and honestly argue some sort of mental issue with Jennifer Pan. If she was in constant mental distress, I think that would result in some sort of defect; her constant lies also indicates some sort of mental development over time. But hey...
