I completely agree.
American democracy is long gone. Having lived in a banana republic before, I can tell you with certainty that elections do not imply democracy.
Corporations elect our president, congressmen, and judges, in the simplest, most efficient way: by paying as much as it's needed to get the people they want in charge. Checks and balances don't work when all the players are owned by the same people.
