    I'll never find the article again now, but... There was an instance in which an older gentleman had lost his ability to speak years ago, when, just so happened to be around a dog, regained that ability well enough to talk to the dog the way people sometimes do. You know, encouragingly and affectionately. Like, suddenly out of nowhere. Stories like that make me think we're singing to our animal companions somehow more than talking with them. As if that's part of this musical exception to dementia. How important these things are to the people we're losing.
