I'm still rather upset that this has happened. I love horror games and make it a point to purchase (I know full well there are some I'll never beat because I get too scared) them whenever I can. Silent Hills was looking like it was going to be a game, despite how scared I get, that I would have forced myself through regardless. Two industry giants, video game legend Kojima and movie legend Del Toro were set to make a game that would, and I quote, "scare the shit out of you". There's no way that the game wouldn't have made a huge profit. I know people that weren't even gamers that were looking forward to it just because Del Toro's name was on it. But now the powers that be let Kojima go and have decided to focus on mobile gaming instead.

It's a damn sad time for the company. However, mobile games make money and are low effort to make. You either die a hero or live long enough too see yourself become the villain.

If Kojima and Konami don't make up, Kojima may work on Silent HIlls on his own after MGS V is released. It may not have the name Silent Hills but it'll be the game he envisioned.

I'd be perfectly fine by this. Change the name, keep the concepts and vision, make the game anyway. Besides, Kojima could easily make his own company. There'd be people flocking to work with him. He's got mad rep in the industry.

You hit the nail right on the head.

The split is also rather surprising given the Japanese culture. So many talents unfulfilled with this news.
